Woodland diversifying in Skin and Body Care

After establishing itself as a show and apparel brand for men and women, Woodland is now working towards becoming a total lifestyle label. After launching kidswear, yoga-wear, an accessories line, the company is eyeing the lucrative organic skincare and bodycare market. The company has already tied up with a Germany-based personal care products company to bring in at least 20 products to India by September this year. This outdoor personal care product line would be retailed through Woodland stores and multi-brand outlets across India.

Quebec-based Woodland, which entered India in 1992, started off as a ‘boots` company and expanded its range later to include apparel. Currently apparel contributes about 40 per cent to Woodland sales in India. The company posted revenues of about Rs 600 crores last fiscal and is looking forward to achieve Rs 700 crores in 2012-13. Last year, the company invested close to Rs 100 crores (about Rs 2 crore per store to set up 50 stores) and has plans to expand its retail network at the same speed this year. Woodland currently has 350 company-owned stores across the country.
